Check, Check, Check!
I finished writing A Twist of Fortune three weeks ago and sent it off to my publisher. The editor read it and made very helpful comments – a bit like a teacher. I made some changes and when the book was as good as I could make it, then it went to the printer and he sent me a copy to check.
This is me checking through the proofs which he sent to me. I have to look for spelling mistakes and other kinds of mistakes, too. It wouldn’t do for a character to have blue eyes in one chapter and brown eyes in another! I check the proof on the dining room table because my office is so untidy. I use a red pen to point out the mistakes and the changes and then I parcel it up and send it back to my publisher. This will be the last time I see it before it becomes a real book.
